Amicus the Union had a high level meeting with Alison Guy, Chief Executive Scarborough North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust on Thursday 19th June 2003 about their concerns about the future of Bridlington & District Hospital.

Geoff Whitlow, Amicus National Officer said, "The meeting was set up to discuss our members concerns about the future of Bridlington & District Hospital and to seek assurances that the Hospital was to develop and improve its services to the public".

We received assurances from the Chief Executive that the Trust will fully consult us on any changes and said the Trust also wished to expand and improve the services.

Mr Whitlow said that Amicus would assist the Trust in Lobbying the Government for the necessary funding to achieve these aims. Mr Whitlow concluded "Amicus will work with the Trust on matters, which concern our members these are service improvement, job security and providing continued and improve healthcare for the people of Bridlington".

Alison Guy said that the meeting was very constructive and useful. We welcome the support from Amicus and fully recognise the need to work more closely with them and their members to achieve improved services for the people of Bridlington.
