When is Bridlington Hospital to get a fair deal?
We ask?
On Monday 1st July 2003 as promised, the M.I.U. was re-opened 24hrs a
day, by the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust,
but everyone was shocked and disgusted when they found out that from Monday
to Thursday, 5pm to 9am, and Friday to Sunday 8pm to 9am NO! Doctor, will
be available in the M.I.U. which means that a large number of patients
will still have to make those tiring journey's by Ambulance and car to
Scarborough or Hull Hospital's, the reason being, our M.I.U. will be Qualified
Nurse Practitioner Led, who can only give restricted services, anyone
needing special treatment will not be treated and re-directed to the Scarborough
Hospital's Accident & Emergency, so once again folks, we, here in
Bridlington seem to have drawn the short end of the straw.
The Ambulance Service has been told by health bosses that its staff must
now take people with "more serious" minor injuries straight
to hospital's in Scarborough & Hull. Only patients taken to Bridlington
Hospital with less minor injuries will be treated by Nurse Practitioners.
Once again, we are given a reduced service at our Bridlington Hospital,
why? We have a perfectly good well equipped hospital, staff shortages
seem to be the norm, also the lack of investment, a cash shortage!
You would most definitely think that between the Scarborough & North
East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust & the Yorkshire Wolds & Coast
Primary Care Trust that these too bodies could get it right after the
Bridlington Hospital's Minor Injuries Unit as been closed for over 8 months.
Trust spokesman, Mr Chris Coombs stated, we are at Bridlington & District
Hospital still receiving a better service?
We must stay very alert and focused as to what is happening at the M.I.
in Bridlington, the hospital is our future, if you think you are getting
a raw deal contact me, together we make a difference, "Stand Together
for the Future".
The Save Bridlington Hospital (campaign) was set-up to fight these reductions
in services and to high these problems.
Other News: Signs within the Bridlington & District Hospital have
been changed? They say, this hospital does not have an Accident &
Emergency in operation, only a limited Minor Injuries Unit, this is to
let the Trust off the hook.
