Now its Withernsea Hospital’s Minor Injuries Closed 9pm to 9am?

First it was Bridlington Hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit Closed (9pm) to (9am) for 8/9 months

Then it was the Alfred Bean in Driffield Minor Injuries Closed Evenings for some months

Now it is Withernsea Hospitals turn Minor Injuries Unit Closed (9pm) to (9am)

Why? Staff shortages and Bad management, no contingency plans put in place, a government organisation without organisation.

What has happened to the NHS we ask, Government money is not finding its way to the right departments?

Too many chiefs and not enough Indians is the cry from the people of these towns now suffering at the hands of New Labour with its new reforms and policies, too little too late, that’s why our hospitals are under staffed and having financial difficulties.

The belief is cut down on the management and recruit more staff to work in wards and on the hospital floor.

Who suffers whilst these hospitals get it right? (Yes) the patient, the public, the elderly, the disabled and children what has happened to healthcare and welfare in the community, right, lack of investment in the right departments, poor management, health remains paramount in every ones eyes.

I firmly believe that these NHS Health Trusts, Primary Care Trusts & Strategic Health Authorities should sit down and find out where they have gone wrong because the people are the ones who suffer.

Whilst these Minor Injuries Units are closed patients and the public are put to the extreme trying to find a suitable hospital to treat them for there injuries etc, ambulance services are pushed the extreme taking patients to other hospitals, then, patients have to find there own way home, at times you can be at a hospital some 20/30+ miles from home receiving treatment that should be happening in your own town, at your own hospital which as closed because of staff shortages or management error?

Next you have to find a taxi to get home, this can be a very expensive journey ranging from anything up to £20.00 or £30.00 depending where you may end-up and at which hospital? Or ring a friend and drag them out in the middle of the night, they may be working next day or there car may be having problems?

We are all in the same frame of mind, we have paid into the NHS all of our working lives, when we need the system its all in disarray and letting us down very badly.

To the people of Withernsea, don’t take this laying down stand–up for your rights, demand the service you have fought and work hard for, has we say health is paramount, we cannot live without it. Give a thought to the elderly, frail, disabled and children who suffer.

Kindest regards

Mick Pilling: Chairman “Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign”.
