Princess Royal Hospital fears it may close? Ambulance Service at Willerby bound for York?
To one and all; more information about the problems affecting people in the East Riding of Yorkshire area; its not good enough; are we getting a raw deal, are these things been done under-hand, are we the last to find out until its too late? Decisions are been made; it’s high time the public, councillors and others were involved in the future of health the service within our region. Are these changes cost saving exercises or just under-minding the people of Yorkshire? If these changes go ahead we’ll have nothing within our region; while have less say of what is going on in the health service; is this just the tip of the ice-burg, we ask! What are your views? I would be interested to know. Mick Pilling Chairman; Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaign; E-mail: [email protected]
Information Below: Was requested by; Mr Jim Mulgrove M.B.E. so residents of East Hull are informed before any undertaking goes ahead! For any progress contact Jim on (01482) 707105 Hull & East Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust: Hull Royal Infirmary Anlaby Road, Hull HU3 2JZ Dated: 4th November 2003 Ref: CO’N/KPC THE PRINCESS ROYAL HOSPITAL The Trust is currently finalising plans to relocate Oncology and Radiotherapy Services from The Princess Royal Hospital to Castle Hill Hospital. It is anticipated that the service will move in the latter-half of 2006. At present, the Trust provides a comprehensive Dermatology service at The Princess Royal Hospital. Whilst this service is primarily provided on an out-patient basis, some patients are admitted to hospital for specialised care and treatment and those that stay in hospital overnight require 24 hour medical cover. Following the relocation of the Oncology service, it would not be practical to provide this at The Princess Royal Hospital for a very small number of Dermatology in-patients. Plans have therefore been developed to relocate the in-patient element of the Dermatology service to Castle Hill Hospital in parallel with Oncology and Radiotherapy. A full consultation on these proposals was undertaken in 2001, led by the East Riding and Hull Health Authority. The consultation showed overwhelming support for the proposal to relocate Dermatology services, although opinion was divided as to whether the whole service or just the in-patient element should be relocated. The future use of The Princess Royal Hospital site is still being considered. The eastern Hull PCT is looking to establish a base in the east of the city for a range of out-patient services, including out-patient clinics, minor injuries, radiology, therapies and minor surgery. One option would be to establish this base at The Princess Royal Hospital, potentially using some of the existing accommodation. Other options and locations are, however, also being considered. No decision on the future use of The Princess Royal Hospital site including possible closure will be taken until the PCT has finalised its plans. I trust that this has provided you with all the information you require. If you have any further questions or if you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me on (01482) 675294 Yours sincerely Mr Chris O’Neil (Acting Director of Planning) Other News; Ambulance Service in Willerby bound for York; (WHY)? Ambulance Control Staff to which we have become accustomed too in the East Riding of Yorkshire could be a thing of the past; why? Plans are in the pipeline to transfer the much needed Ambulance Control Room at Willerby to York; some 30+ miles away from our region; all 999 calls will then go through a planned control room doing away with the Willerby Control Room; fears are that the staff will be unfamiliar with the East Riding of Yorkshire Area with its Rural Communities; other fears are; it might take longer to dispatch an ambulance when time is at a premium; belief is that control staff should have a larger knowledge of the surrounding areas in which they operate. Are the people of the East Riding of Yorkshire receiving short change once again; it makes me wonder. Send your views to me; address on website. Take this information up with your local Councillors; support the call for the Ambulance Control Services to stay in Willerby. Health is and will always be Paramount! A Greater Public Accountability of our health Service
is called for; it should be brought under Scrutiny by local Elected Councillors
instead of being run by un-elected and unaccountable quangos and bureaucrats. |
