The DEMISE of the Rapid Response Vehicles draws ever nearer?

Fears are the (6) Rapid Response Ambulance Cars; Volvo V40 Estates fully fitted and equipped with life saving equipment; these “Life Saving Machines on Wheels” with fully experienced Paramedic and Technicians on-board will soon be a thing of the past if: Tee’s & East North Yorkshire Ambulance Service (TENYAS) have there own way. Overwhelming unequivocal support is being gathered daily to keep this much needed R/R/V’s Ambulance Service! Members of Parliament; Councillors; the General Public and other organisation give there undisputed support; will TENYAS listen; the answer up to now is NO!

Fears are the Demise of this Ambulance service could spell danger for many people who suffer from; Heart Attacks; Breathing Problems and Road Traffic Accidents; TENYAS state that it will make no difference to ambulance services but many people fear it will. TENYAS did not meet required Government Target Times last year or this and are hell bent on saving money. Another NHS cost saving exercise by Top Heavy Management.

Fears are the main reason for the Demise of this quality ambulance service is once again “COST” they say it’s not cost effective or non-viable; they have been running our towns and rural roads for some 10 months now; we firmly believe that it is in the Public Interest to keep these R/R/V’s on the road to save valuable lives; been on the scene first can make a difference between life or death in many cases. Response time is of the essence in many cases as stated.

We believe the affected areas are; Bridlington, Driffield, Hornsea, Beverley, Withernsea and Hull area and all rural area within this region; most of the 6 R/R/V’s are parked up in ambulance station within the East Riding area; how can TENYAS management go ahead and make cuts without informing the general public; the very people who pay there wages reflected in there taxes.

We believe the healthcare in the East Riding of Yorkshire is predominately elderly; relatively affluent healthy and aging but the population is well scattered throughout this rural area; to withdraw these R/R/V’s will only increase such problems within the existing ambulance service.

I am disappointed; but not particularly surprised, by TENYAS behaviour; the more remote that these organisations become, the less in touch they are with the needs of local residents. They tend to forget that they are a public body and answerable to the public.

I can report; numerous e-mails (too many to count) have been sent to the Chief Executive of TENYAS Mrs Jayne Barnes CBE all have drawn a blank; I am very dissatisfied with the negative response and the unenthusiastic discourteousness of this very delicate topic and scenario; I will continue to ask the very important questions that everyone would like to know the answers too; but no one; but no one can understand why TENYAS cannot be honest and accurate to the very people who pay there wages reflect in taxes.

The Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP as now taken up the case and will be responding to his constituents in due course; other Councillors and MP’s are supporting Mr Knight MP.

Once again a call for a Public Inquiry and Full Accountability should be called for.
