NO! Response from Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust

As another week nears the end! No reply from: Chief Executive Alison Guy Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust yet? Please be so kind as to reply?

I saw the write-up in the UNISON Health Care Newsletter issue November 2003 how negative it all seemed; for them to say; we were most probably telling porky-pies is an under-statement; I leave that to the professionals who say they have been advertising for nursing staff and recruiting when blatant lies were told for many months; Unison not supporting the Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaign is nothing misplaced; everyone is open to there own views; but to talk to the nurses at Bridlington is a very different story; these nurses Support us 100% and welcome all the hard work we put into our efforts; the many donations we make to the; League of Friends at Bridlington Hospital and the Macmillan Wold Unit goes fully supported. We fully respect the hard work and dedication that our Nurses and Doctors achieve and will help them all we can to maintain a fully efficient Bridlington & District Hospital; we tell it as it is; we put questions and rumours to the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s Chief Executive Ms Alison Guy so that the Trust as every opportunity to dismiss or refute our claims and answers these question unequivocally.

We expect to be un-popular with the Trust & PCT's has we are fighting for the future of the Bridlington & District Hospital & NHS Hospitals within our region and will do so as long as it takes.

The fact we are supported by AMICUS the UNION; a much bigger union says it all.

I put the following questions to: Chief Executive Alison Guy Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust recently; well 3 months ago to be precisely; also the Press have been trying to find out the answers?

1. Blood Tests to be held at Scarborough Hospital; could be done in Bridlington, it was to be entered on appointment forms sent out to patients as previously discussed to save time, money and be more efficient. NO reply yet?

2. The Lift at Bridlington Hospital broken since before December 2002, to be repaired and finalised in December 2003 time is drawing very, very near? 12 months later and still not working; promise broken? What excuse can be suitable? It’s now 2004; oh yes it is!

3. Car-park charges to be reviewed in December 2003; will this still be going ahead or as the Bridlington Hospital got used to the revenue from Car-park charges coming in now? The request was; to reduce charges in a morning for patient’s appointments if possible? NO reply yet?

4. Priory Ward at present is a store-room; there is nothing left in this ward except dust; most of this wards assets are long gone? What would happen in this town in an extreme emergency?

5. Security? Has the review into certain procedures been adhered to yet, fears are; been able to walk around the Bridlington hospital unchallenged; been able to walk into any part of the hospital or wards at any-time, walking into most areas at any time with only one Porter/Security man on surely this will be a breach in government regulation? Reception area blind to visitors?? As anything been done in the last few months; NO! Still waiting?

6. What about the rumours of only one Porter been on duty at night from January 2004; this is totally a 1st class safety issue; fears are it could be classed as a security problem; which; we will be fighting on all fronts? Yes it will happen; fears are its going through the back-door to save money; check it out for yourself; it is a safety issue for patients and our nursing staff; one man will find it very difficult to run this hospital at night without a problem? He would have too much to do and no back-up for M.I.U. or other departments if he became ill; what contingency plans would be in place?

I’m afraid that these questions were put to the Chief Executive Ms Alison Guy Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust; (3) months ago but we have still not receive any answers; was it not Chief Executive Alison Guy who stated at previous meetings; if you have a rumour or question put it too me and I will answer it; it is better we work together; I would be very grateful if you would answer these very important questions at your soonest. Alison!
