Ref: Meeting with the Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP by Mick Pilling Chairman: Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaign East Yorkshire

A pre-arranged meeting was held last night Friday 19/12/03 at the Conservative Club, Tennyson Ave, Bridlington, between Mick Pilling Chairman Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaign East Yorkshire; the Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP and Deputy Mayor Richard Harrap I can report the meeting went astonishingly well and many topics were on the agenda: firstly we discussed the demise of the Rapid Response Vehicles and the Response Times in East Yorkshire; Mr Knight MP said; he was very concerned about these issues I had raised and told me he intendeds having further discussions with TENYAS in the near future about this; he also told me he will be visiting TENYAS HQ in York and meeting Chief Executive Mrs Jayne Barnes to pursue these issue and matters further.

Also on the agenda were the issues raised about Bridlington Hospital; a detailed list of issues were handed to Mr Knight MP and he said; he will be looking into these issues raised; he said he would be discussing these issues raised with Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trusts Chief Executive Alison Guy in the New Year; he was concerned that the lifts which had been out of action for 12 months still remained broken when promises were made to have them repaired by December 2003; a list of other issue including the believed reduction in Night Porters to one man from January 2004 were handed over and discussed; these would be taken up with Ms Guy by the Rt. Hon. Mr Greg Knight MP and answers would be expected.

The Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP praised the efforts that the Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaign was achieving and wished them sincere luck in the future; he supports our Campaign wholeheartedly and believes if it were not for our intervention and campaigning; Bridlington Hospital’s future could have been very different. The meeting which lasted just over one hour proved very positive.

One more thing to add to the below information is; The Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP as requested we have a further meeting mid to late JANUARY 2004 so he can up-date me after his meetings with the various organisations TENYAS & Scarborough Trust; he was not very please when I told him I had contacted the two several times but had not received a reply from either; he thought that was deplorable.
