MORE GOOD NEWS! BRIDLINGTON HOSPITAL'S - DAY-CARE "NEW LEASE OF LIFE"!!! ! |
Below previous story and the Newspaper cutting with the Good-news story. read on and celebrate another success for Bridlington hospital. This was the News reported last year by the: Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaigners YET ANOTHER SET-BACK FOR BRID/HOSPITAL?? DAY-CARE CENTRE! The Save Bridlington Hospital Campaigners are always at the ready for the antics of the: Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust, now Gilly Collinson; Communications Director as just informed certain people of the next set-back to hit Bridlington & District Hospital and it has been met with utter dismay and contempt after recent talks by the Save Bridlington Hospital Campaigners Monday 1st September 2003 with the Trusts Chief Executive Alison Guy, Medical Director Dr Ian Holland & Personal Manager Duncan Henderson when they categorically stated no more cuts were in the pipe-line, now we hear of another cost saving exercise to save money, to reduce the £11.7m of Debt the Trust as, who will be hit this time? Day-care Center, Bridlington & District Hospital, why, the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust want to save money, never mind the care and the welfare of the elderly, they will just pass that to some other department, either Social Services or District Nurses, most patients who attend Bridlington Hospital for treatment are very happy with the nursing staff who are very experienced and the tremendous self satisfaction on meeting others in a similar circumstance to them-selves. The Day-care Center performs many tasks to the 12,000+ patients who pass through there department in the last 2 years, fears are that nurses in the Day-care will end up on the wards etc and the Day-care Center will be put on a 2 day a week, this is ludicrous and reprehensible, some of the patients that pass through this department are aged from 70 to 90+ yrs has we keep saying health is Paramount, don't take this service away, keep it on 5 days a week increase services facilities and secure its future for the community. The Trust have given one version type statement on the lines of; we are looking at the services of the Day-care Center but no definite plans have been made and discussions will be made in December 03 after the Trusts Steering Group meet. Well I can tell the Trusts Steering Group now that the Save Bridlington Hospital Campaigners will pull out all the stops to prevent this travesty from happening. The usual scenario that follows these outrageous statements is to contradict it later, which the Trust as done already, there is only one confident statement in place? “Watch the Scarborough Trust very carefully and fear the worst” A Peaceful Protest will be put into action in due course and Television (BBC & Yorkshire TV) the Media & Local Radio Stations will be invited, leaflets will be distributed and a strong turn-out will be expected, our MP the RT. Hon. Greg Knight as been informed and e-mails have now been sent to all Councillors in the region. Staff at Bridlington Hospital has reacted with anger over these possible plans to close the Day-care Center 3 days a week. Workers in the day hospital claim they were told last week that, from January 2004 the unit would only open 2 days a week, what will happen to the patients? Fears are many will not receive the correct treatment or get the treatment they now receive. THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR: |
