Bridlington Hospital's Minor Injuries Unit re-opens 24 hours after 10 months of Restrictions!

Very good news for the people of Bridlington; Bridlington Hospital's Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) re-opens 24 hours from, Tuesday 1st February 2005; after 10 month of restrictions; it was back in March 2002 when yet another problem with staff caused the struggling Minor Injuries Unit to implement changes.

With 3 new Nurse Practitioners in place the (MIU) is now offering a more comprehensive service 24 hours a day; it is hoped now that less patients will be sent to Scarborough Hospital for treatment; only time will tell? The (MIU) is designed to treat slight cuts, burns, bites and broken bones; until this week, people who arrived at the Bridlington Hospital's (MIU) were assessed by the night co-ordinator; if the injury was not too bad, on-site Doctors or nurses would treat the patient; but in many more serious cases people/patients would be transferred to Scarborough Hospital thus putting stress on the injured patient. "This was not a good practice".

We must now hope that the Bridlington Hospitals (MIU) keeps on running at full strength as Winter pulls out and the Summer approaches and the Town gets busy once more.
