Protest Update

I listened to the Radio Humberside this morning 04/07/05 as the Scarborough Trust defended its Maternity Unit @ Bridlington. Our planned peaceful protest is not without foundation and WILL GO AHEAD on Monday; 18th July 2005 12.00noon main entrance.

For the Scarborough Trust To Say; "It was the envy of other Towns" is nothing more than ludicrous!

Lets re-cap:
  1. For over three years now expectant mum's have been let down with closures, shortage of staff and no investment
  2. The possible Closure of Bridlington Maternity Unit and remove it to Scarborough along with Malton & Whitby 2yrs ago to save £500,000 per year...would have gone ahead if not for our Peaceful Protest....Then
  3. First time mums travel to Scarborough with NO choice
  4. Birthing Pool; cash as been available for 2 years with nothing done?
  5. NO after-care after baby is born.....sent home with a few hours...no bed-facilities
  6. Mid-wives on call is not 24 hour service....we've had this for years
  7. Expectant mums must ring mid-wife and arrange meeting at hospital...only if 2nd or 3rd birth
  8. Must not! Turn-up un-announced.....have to sign form!
  9. No investment as been made at Maternity Unit for over 3+ years..... this is long over due
  10. Petitions are now been filled in by mothers at Honeysuckle Nursery; Scarborough Road & Park View Nursery about state of Maternity Unit
  11. Expectant mothers constant fear of having baby in an Ambulance on way to Scarborough grows..whilst Ambulance Service Struggles
  12. Expectant mothers taken to Scarborough by Ambulance! Have baby and sent home under own steam? After-care and all is OK
Need we say more......but there is more.....Ask the Mothers?

Whilst we have Staff in place we should take advantage and build up Maternity Unit....to Exceptional !
