Over the past 3 plus years the Save/Support Bridlington Hospital Campaign Group have been fighting for a better Ambulance Service in Bridlington, letterers written to TENYAS have fallen on deaf ears, e-mails have been snubbed, phone-call yield nothing, like all organisations; they are a law unto themselves and answer to no-one! Media involvement has been good, but once again we have achieved little, the cash-strapped Ambulance organization have past-off the shortage of ambulances in the East Yorkshire area with the attitude of it can cope?
In Bridlington more and more ambulances travel to Scarborough Hospital with a round trip of approx 40 miles, once the patient as been booked into Scarborough Hospital the ambulance then races back to Bridlington to answer another emergency call, we ask how long before these dedicated ambulance men are involved in an accident, God fore-bid!
The Rapid-Response Ambulance Car or First-Responder as some know it was with-drawn from Bridlington over 2 years ago as it was stated it was not cost effective or viable but yet it as to used in Bridlington quite frequently?
We have 2 Ambulances by day to cope with a town of 44,000 residents increasing to 100,000 in the Summer months and holiday time; at night this ambulance service is reduced to just one, which we have stated is ludicrous.
NOW! we find the Health Watchdog have slammed the Ambulance Trust.
We can't all be wrong, TENYAS are just acting negative as it fights to cut costs within the ambulance service.
We would like to sing the praises of the dedicated Ambulance Drivers, Technicians and Paramedics, the front line staff!
