Respect in the NHS

What a state of affairs the National Health Service is in at present; Cuts, Closures and Reduction in services across the line, this is not the way forward, this is not what the Health service is about, as the Government would like you to believe.

Give back to the public what they expect after paying into the health service for all these years, reflected in there wages and taxes, everyone who has worked since the 1940's has contributed to the every day running of the British National Health Service, as we all know the NHS is free at the point of entry.

YET! You pay to Park your car? You pay to have a cup of tea or coffee? You pay the price of waiting to see a specialist, sometimes resulting in death? Unless you pay private, yes if you pay private you can normally see the same specialist within 24 to 48 hours; whilst on the NHS you will probably wait anything from 6 months to 18 months; when you are paying up front suddenly there is a vacancy, how strange, money talks all kind of languages.

Is this what is meant by a two tier system?

The Primary Care Trusts (PCT's) and the Hospital Healthcare Trusts; all seem to be in financial debt, not a few pounds; Millions upon Millions they can't make there books balance? If this were a business it would be bankrupt! Yet; they continue to run the services down with dramatic results; is anyone accountable? NO! Is anyone brought to book? NO! Why? They seem to be a law unto themselves; covering there tracks by reducing vital services which the general public are entitled to.

These PCT's and Healthcare Trusts have fully trained Chief Executives and Managers all of which have secretaries? Hospitals as we all now are top heavy with management.

As the Audit Commission moves into Hospitals and finds the faults in spending, nothing seems to be achieved; Health Watch-dogs condemn action taken; the Royal College of Physicians make recommendations which are overlooked by these Trusts, we believe.

Many other groups have complained that not enough is been done for the survival of the NHS for the foreseeable future; Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt has admitted the NHS needs to deliver better value from the budget's extra 7% a year. She said: "It is vital that we deliver maximum benefit from this funding." Tory Health spokesman Andrew Lansley fumed: "The £5bn increase is not getting through to the frontline.  It is being eaten up by bureaucracy, waste and Government improved costs."

Labour has already told the Strategic Health Authorities; PCT's and Hospital Trusts it will not bail them out of Debt?!

What chance do we have we as patients; no money in the NHS; Millions in Debt; Community Hospitals closing and reducing services; someone is most definitely going to suffer; and someone will lose there life; some have already lost there battle.

Have Labour forgotten, it was Labour that started the NHS, back in the 1940's it should be Labour that keeps it running for the sake of everyone in this country; the Conservative's under Margaret Thatcher tried to run down the NHS; since then the Conservatives have help prop it up along with the Liberals, true!

When is someone, going to listen to what the people of Britain want? YES! A Health Service that it can be proud of; a Health Service that cares and one it can trust, one that gives the Service that is Expected!

What must you do to obtain such a Health Service?

£13.5M HOSPITAL CUTBACKS

There are fears for services at the region's three major hospitals after managers revealed plans for widespread cuts in a bid to save £13.5m from its budget.
The savings will need to be made by April next year.
HOSPITAL managers must cut £13.5m from their budget in just eight months.
Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has identified 20 areas where cutbacks will be made.
Managers today stressed services would not suffer as a result.
But patient groups and public service union officials claimed such drastic cuts would result in lower standards of care or longer waiting lists.
The trust, which covers Hull Royal Infirmary, Castle Hill and Princess Royal Hospital , already had a £5.4m deficit from last year.
