Closure of GUM CLINIC Bridlington Hospital

Councillors, Press & Radio Stations

It as today come to my attention; that it is the full intentions of the Hull PCT who run the GUM Clinic; Community Service Entrance A. Bridlington Hospital ; they say, this facility is to close for the future in Bridlington and be removed to Hull.

The GUM Clinic covers: Family Planning; Sexually Transmitted Disease, the handing out of Condoms and education of other sources; this is a much needed service and an asset to the younger end. The Clinic opens: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday and serves this community.

This is devastating news; another nail in the coffin of Bridlington Hospital; the removal of services will not be tolerated, we will be left with a shell if these cuts are allowed to go ahead.

The Government for years as led a campaign against Sexually Transmitted Diseases; i.e. AIDS etc The Pregnancy of young girls and un-wanted children. Its time we stood up and said NO!!!!

Enough is Enough, we need these services for the future of Bridlington, a growing Town; who, wants to trail to Hull?

PS: This as nothing to do with Scarborough NHS Trust, for a change!.....It is the PCT

From Mick Pilling....(Chairman) S.B.H.C.G.

The word I have received this morning is, due to the pressure I have placed on the PCT, they have had to respond?

They say; The GUM CLINIC is under Review at Bridlington Hospital (entrance "A") , but, the PCT will not state its future?  The Gum Clinic will either close? have services cut? or will stay open with some services alteration?

This is the normal type of statement made by PCT's and it makes people who use the service and who work within the service very un-happy, it does not give a future to this very important service to the community.

The GUM CLINIC if closed will be transferred to HULL: I am informed by source
