This could mean a clear-way now for York Hospital to take-over the running of Scarborough NHS Hospital which as been in the pipe-line for some time?  Devastating News for Bridlington Hospital & it's staff & patients, could this see further Demise of Bridlington, we ask?  Further cuts in Services could be in the pipeline? We expect the axe to fall by way of Stealth.

If this happens it could also take over the running of; Bridlington, Whitby & Malton?  This could spell danger for many patients who will have to travel many miles for treatment and appointments, the NHS is in Melt-down, the shortage of Funds within the NHS is causing all kinds of major problems.   We must as previously stated, Stand together, Bridlington with a population of 45,000 raising to in excess of 100,000 in Summer needs a hospital intact, NOT! diced & sliced with a bit here and there missing.

As I reported yesterday; the demise of the GUM Clinic at Bridlington Hospital by the PCT is just the start, we firmly believe more cuts are on the cards as the NHS hit-squad do there job, I ask all MP's & Councillors to be tough and fight for the future of Bridlington.

Other news! The Turn-around Team & the NHS Hit Squads are presently busy within Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby & Malton for the next 12 weeks or so; as they find as many ways as possible to cut services and save money, this could also be devastating for the East Coast Hospitals

Other News! York Hospital: NHS Foundation Trust Status one step nearer!

Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for Health has announced this morning that York Hospital's application for NHS Foundation Trust Status has been given the go ahead by the Department of Health and will now be passed to Monitor, the Foundation Trust Regulator for detailed evaluation. A final decision on whether the hospital trust can become a Foundation Trust will be made later this year.

Trust Chief Executive, Jim Easton commented:

“This is an important milestone and reflects the fact that the hospital is recognised as continuing to perform well and is delivering high quality services for patients. We know, however, that the Monitor evaluation is likely to be searching and we cannot be confident at this stage that we will achieve NHS Foundation Trust Status this year.

“Foundation Trust status would make us more able to govern our affairs locally, with staff and public members electing a Board of Governors to oversee the running of the hospital.

“As part of the preparation for potential Foundation Trust status this year, we will now begin looking for people who are interested in becoming Governors. An open evening for interested members of the public is being held at York Hospital's Post Graduate Education Centre 5th Floor main building above reception] at 7.30pm on Wednesday 1 February.

“If you would like to consider becoming a Governor please come to the meeting which will give you the opportunity to meet our Chairman and Chief Executive who will work closely with the Governors.”
