NEXT STEPS IN ADDRESSING OUR FINANCIAL SITUATION

The Trust is now officially in financial turnaround , as we take another step forward in addressing our longstanding Finance problems. Said Acting CE Mike Potts, Following work with Price Waterhouse Cooper, it is clear that the trust s financial situation is very serious, and our problems cannot be solved within the current yYear. There have been several previous attempts to follow financial rRecovery plans, but none of these have been successful. By oOfficially going into turnaround , we are facing up to the realities of bringing our finances into long-term balance, and will be working
In very close co-operation with the SHA and the Department Of Health, both of which will monitor our situation and progress.

We will require specialist support and expertise to guide us through this process, and therefore in addition to working with PWC, we will be appointing an experienced Turnaround Director within the next two weeks. There will then be a concentrated period of work, involving a wide range of Trust staff, to establish how we can provide a suitable range of high quality services to the local population, within budget. Staff involvement will be crucial to the project, and we will be keeping you informed throughout.

Other local organisations which are already in turnaround include Hull hospitals, YWC PCT and Selby York PCT.

AND NEXT STEP FOR PCT CE's
The appointment process for Chief Execs of the reconfigured PCT's across the country has taken another step forwards, with the announcement of those local substantive CE's who will be appointed to new posts within NHS Yorkshire and the Humber SHA. Acting Chief Exec Mike Potts is one of the successful candidates, as are Chris Boswell, Andy Buck, Penny Jones, Simon Morritt, Chris Outram, Janet Soo-Chung, and Previous General Manager here at Scarborough, Chris Long.
Individuals will be matched to PCT's in the near future, whilst the remaining posts will be advertised externally. Directors are currently undergoing an assessment process similar to that undergone by the Chief Execs. This will be complete by September 6th, with interviews to follow. The new, merged organisations officially come into being on 1/10/06.
