East Yorkshire: Concerns about possible closures of sexual health clinics have led Haltemprice and Howden MP David Davis to ask questions in Parliament.
Mr Davis tabled questions to the health secretary about the possible closures.
Mr Davis said: "It has been brought to my attention that there are rumours a number of sexual health clinics in East Yorkshire may be closed in the coming months.
"This is obviously of great concern as both teenage pregnancy and sexual health issues continue to be a concern in many parts of East Yorkshire.
"I want to know if there is any truth in these rumours and whether or not these possible closures are as a result of budget cuts from central Government.
"Local residents are paying much more in tax and yet we are seeing more and more of our local public services under threat."
Mr Davis also tabled a question about NHS dental provision in East Yorkshire.
He said a recent survey of constituents in Kirk Ella and West Ella found only 53 per cent of residents had easy access to an NHS dentist
Mr Davis said: "This is a concern repeated across my constituency."
Possible closures of sexual health clinics in Bridlington on hold at present....the GUM Clinic at Bridlington was due to be moved to Hull recently but this was averted due to Mick Pilling intervention |
