PLANNED CUTS ARE FINAL DEMISE OF BRIDLINGTON HOSPITAL

With Leaked Documents to the Press and Scarborough NHS Trust statements; the final Demise of Bridlington Hospital draws ever so near........We the town of Bridlington & Surrounding areas.... Should Stand Together!

Today on the radio 26th September 2006, Radio Humberside the Chief Executive (Interim) Iain McInnes spoke of the finances and the cuts that could and may well be implemented that would affect Bridlington Hospital and its future

The Scarborough & North East NHS Healthcare Trust Chief Executive said; that Price, Waterhouse & Cooper (auditors) had been employed at a cost of between £190,000/£200,000 to make savings with the Trust been in debt to the tune of £13m+ he also said it had received £4.2m from the Yorkshire Coast & Wolds PCT leaving the Trust with a deficit of approx £9m.....this would mean trimming hospital services at Malton, Whitby & Bridlington Hospitals.  This would see the closure of many of the services to patients, disabled & cause no end of stress and frustration to many; seeing people travel many miles at there expense to be treated at other busy hospitals Bridlington Hospital has already seen a vast amount of changes taking place by Stealth and back-door scenarios.

The Minor Injuries Unit closed its doors to patients on the 4th September 2006 over-night 9pm to 9am next-day

The Trust knew that staff would be going on maternity leave but did nothing about it; no contingency plans, no recruitment and no advertising for staff was made (fact) that Trust are saving money at our expense (true)
A complete ban on overtime and recruitment of vital staff, nurses & doctors Staff from (MIU) now work at Scarborough's A&E we are informed

Now more cuts are Planned!  At Bridlington
The demise of: Cardiac Monitoring Unit for heart attack victims etc; removed to Scarborough
The demise of: Maternity Services removed to Scarborough
The closure of: Surgical Wards and Bed reductions
The Minor Injuries Unit; it has been stated NO plans to reopen at night for the future; also if it were possible the closure of (MIU) daytime; this would not be possible at present because Scarborough A&E is struggling now to cope!
No Doctors at Bridlington at night or weekends no pharmacy open
No security on at night or day at Bridlington
Only one Porter to cope with all issues at night

Ambulance situation also critical in Bridlington; letter to TENYAS not replied to???

Malton & Whitby Hospitals also have planned cuts in the pipeline; bed-reductions closure of MIU's

We the: SAVE/SUPPORT BRIDLINGTON HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN ACTION GROUP WE WILL BE FIGHTING TOOTH & NAIL AGAINST THESE LUDICROUS CUTS @ BRIDLINGTON HOSPITAL

I CALL ON BRIDLINGTON & SURROUNDING AREAS TO FIGHT & STAND TOGETHER FOR ITS FUTURE

MICK PILLING (Chairman)
