Cancer Patients Ambulance Wait! |
Our group fought the removal of the Rapid Response Car from Bridlington, to no avail, the fight fell on deaf ears! We have been fighting for an extra Ambulances at night for 4 years, it falls on deaf ears, we've taken this issue up with all Councillors in Bridlington & Beverley, our own MP the Rt. Hon Greg Knight as had meeting with TENYAS, other dignitaries have voiced there opinions. I have written and e-mailed TENYAS Chief Executive: Jayne Barnes on many occasions; I have asked for the latest response figures 2005/2006 for this area, it as fallen on deaf ears; then I have been told others within TENYAS would respond, this as not happened; also if I send more than 3 or 4 e-mails; I am told, this is classed as harassment....a excellent way to get out of answering very awkward question, only a white collar worker on a vast income could think this one up! Whilst the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Bridlington Hospital remains closed we the people of Bridlington must cope with ambulance shortages and been taken to Scarborough at every verse end....We need the whole situation and system sorting out in Bridlington; the Health Service is at an all time low; it will get worse before it gets better? Many people in Bridlington are reported as saying; we must stick together and fight for services; I as a campaign leader have been asking for the last 4 years for the town to stick together and fight, we have organised; Meetings, Peaceful Protests, many Petitions, Leaflets etc, if people don't turn up, respond and voice there opinion, then the fight is lost and the NHS Healthcare Trust will do the dirty deeds! I have reported daily the number of Ambulances travelling the Scarborough Road in Bridlington on there way to Scarborough Hospital's A&E 22 miles away with Blue's & Two's in operation; the Ambulances then come back the same way as they try to cope with the volume of 999 Calls.....We have in Bridlington 2 Ambulances by day and only 1 Ambulance at night; for a town with 44,000+ resident rising to 100,000 in the Summer months; Bridlington is a town that is growing daily, new estates, new blocks of flat and building for the elderly.....the present situation needs to be addressed first hand! Lets not forget last month when two men nearly lost there lives through the (MIU) been closed whilst they suffered Heart Attacks in the Bridlington Hospital car-park and Ambulances been called in from Scarborough.....It's not good enough!!!!
