Press Release

From: Mick Pilling (Chairman)

SAVE BRIDLINGTON HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN ACTION GROUP

Firstly; I would like to say a big thank you to the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust on there achievement in opening the New Operating Theatre Dept at Bridlington Hospital at a cost of £270,000 this week; the investment, I hope will indeed show there commitment to providing much need services. All the details of the above can now be found on our Website: www.savebridlingtonhospital.co.uk also the Trust's latest meeting reports.

PUZZLED: With the new Operating Theatre open can the Trust tell us were the staff are coming from?  There is a complete ban on overtime; a complete ban on Recruitment and a shortage of nurses, also Junior Doctors are to be removed from Bridlington Hospital; lets hope the Trust are not dangling the carrot?  Latest reports were by the Scarborough NHS Trust; they were trying to save £4.2m a year for the next two years to recuperate there debt of £8.2m.

As previously stated; the people of Bridlington would like to see the Minor Injuries Unit re-opened 24/7 the Petition of 22,500 signatures is now in the hands of the Scarborough NHS Trust and we firmly believe this should be dealt with at there soonest; the sooner the (MIU) is back up and running for the future the better for all who become ill.

Over to you; Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust.....we will see you at the Councill meeting on Wednesday 29th November 2006 @ 7.00pm @ Bridlington Town Hall.
