Regarding the Future of Bridlington Hospital |
Sunday 26th November 2006 Dear Mr. McInnes Regarding the Future of Bridlington Hospital I note from response that you will be consulting with Pager and the Patients and Public Involvement Forum? As a campaign group who have just handed you a petition of no-less than 22,500 signatures; from a town of 44,000+ residents; I would have thought that our group would most certainly been involved and contacted in any consultation or debates; do you fear our group; we have in the past struck many a good broadside and victory. However please note these bodies do not speak for 22,500 residents of Bridlington and surrounding areas who signed our petition to re-open the Minor Injuries Unit 24/7 and also to stop the ludicrous and despicable cuts you have em-posed. Both these bodies are individual groups unelected by the people of Bridlington The Public should be heard not just pushed away by your Management and ignored No Doubt as you are fully aware all the decisions about the future of Bridlington Hospital have already been decided behind closed doors and therefore consultations as you say will be discussed with small groups where no doubt your Trust will try to get them on board meaning you can claim that consultation has been done and made within this process disregard the views of 22,500 residents of Bridlington and surrounding areas. Councillors who represent the 22,500 or so residents of our town who signed this very important Petition support our group wholeheartedly; each person who signed had something to say about Scarborough NHS Healthcare Trust how devious, and underhanded they were at every opertune moment. We require a full Public Meeting in the first instance to debate the services withdrawn all ready at Bridlington & District Hospital and its future It appears that you are presently declining a Full Public Meeting this is not acceptable to the residents of this town of Bridlington ; Bridlington People spoke with one voice when you received the petition of 22,500 signatures plus. I call on upon the will of the people of Bridlington and the media/press to seek your removal from the position of (Interim) Chief Executive as it is clear and evident you are here attempting to use your office to make many cuts to save vast amounts of money to reduce the £8.2m debt; once done you will move on and a new Chief executive put in place who will not be able to answer questions; all we will get then is no-comment! you impinge on the few to get the results you wish so you can leave with a comment, job done! This is totally unacceptable; we as a Campaign Action Group we will fight and appose any ludicrous changes or cuts to the much needed hospital services at Bridlington Hospital The people of Bridlington care about the future of an hospital they themselves help to build with the money raised by the town; the land the hospital stands upon was given by a member of Bridlington (Bessingby Hall); I am afraid the views of those in positions such as yourself and others who you employ to decide what services we the people of Bridlington receive in our local hospital should be scrutinised at all times. It is clear services should be in place for the need of the public not for the need of the chief executive and his army of pen-pushers and those who have neglected our services previously and Incorporated massive debts that the people of Bridlington now have to pay back and suffer through lack of decent services; the car-park charges you imposed on Bridlington Hospital should be illegal; the land which the hospital stands on was given free, the hospital was built with funds raised; so what right do you have to charge to park on free land?? Finally once again the People of Bridlington have spoken in a 22,500+ petition document we do not want to listen to quangos and pen-pushers who are totally unaccountable to the people it claims it serves Futher More: Press Release From: Mick Pilling (Chairman) SAVE BRIDLINGTON HOSPITAL CAMPAIGN ACTION GROUP Firstly; I would like to say a big thank you to the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust on there achievement in opening the New Operating Theatre Dept at Bridlington Hospital at a cost of £270,000 this week; the investment, I hope will indeed show there commitment to providing much need services. All the details of the above can now be found on our Website: www.savebridlingtonhospital.co.uk also the Trust's latest meeting reports. PUZZLED: With the new Operating Theatre open can the Trust tell us were the staff are coming from? There is a complete ban on overtime; a complete ban on Recruitment and a shortage of nurses, also Junior Doctors are to be removed from Bridlington Hospital; lets hope the Trust are not dangling the carrot? Latest reports were by the Scarborough NHS Trust; they were trying to save £4.2m a year for the next two years to recuperate there debt of £8.2m I would also like to see a copy of the information from the Deanery that says Junior Doctors should be removed from Bridlington 7.10 & 7.11 of the Report/Discussion Document? As previously stated; the people of Bridlington would like to see the Minor Injuries Unit re-opened 24/7 the Petition of 22,500 signatures is now in the hands of the Scarborough NHS Trust and we firmly believe this should be dealt with at there soonest; the sooner the (MIU) is back up and running for the future the better for all who become ill. Over to you; Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust.....we will see you at the Councill meeting on Wednesday 29th November 2006 @ 7.00pm @ Bridlington Town Hall Mick Pilling (Chairman) I therefore look forward to a response from you with positive answers...Mr. McInnes Mick Pilling (chairman)
