Some facts you need to know |
2. Buckrose-Ward Bridlington Hospital has just been completely re-furbished from top to bottom; it has also had a brand new extension put on the amount spent is in excess of £250,000+ a lot of Tax Payers monies spent; the Buckrose ward carries a big question-mark over its future; the lease on both wards runs out in 2010.....we must watch the future of these two wards; they have 12 beds each and employ some 35 staff between them; staff fear for the jobs and there future; we believe the axe could fall has uncertainty runs hand in hand. From: Mick Pilling (Chairman) Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group..... 28/03/07 Outrage & Disgust over Cuts to Waters Ward Mental Healthcare Bridlington Hospital The Bridlington Hospital gets another kick in the Teeth; it has now been confirmed that the Waters-ward at the fated Bridlington hospital will lose one of its Mental Healthcare Wards in September 2007 with the loss of 12 beds and the loss of 17 jobs; the other ward which is called Buckrose has just had a face lift and we are told this will remain open? Yes! But for how long The Waters & Buckrose Wards are run by Humber Mental Health Teaching NHS Trust; we are now told a consultation document will be released in due course; hospital staff are in constant fear for there jobs; the plan is to remove the ward to possibly Hull? The Humber Mental Health Teaching NHS Trust; leases the 2 wards from the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire NHS Healthcare Trust; the lease is due to run out in 2010. We firmly believe this is yet another NHS cost saving exercise; designed to save money and not care in the community. This; yet another cut to Bridlington Hospital Services has angered many people; they are totally disgusted with the state of affairs; the Bridlington Hospital is been hit from all sides in cost saving exercises by Trusts and PCT's Is it not time they gave more thought to the patients the very people these services were set-up to look after; if this closure goes ahead which we are told it will patients could well have to travel many miles for treatment. We; The Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group will oppose such cuts in the community these services are required and firmly believe they should stay in Bridlington; the town has 44,000+ residents and all mental healthcare should be retained; cuts are not acceptable. We must all fight & stand together E-mails to the Humber Mental Health Teaching NHS Trust have been fruitless no-one will respond; no-one will be accountable? What's new!
