This is a victory for the local community

Statement by Mick Pilling (Chairman)

04/04/07  Press Release Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group

"This is a victory for the local community and staff at the hospital as the plans to downgrade Bridlington Hospital would have been a disaster. Health is Paramount We welcome the independent review of all these vital services; Bridlington Hospital is the future of a growing Town.

"This result is the culmination of a very hard fought campaign by the Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group to retain these services. A 22,500 Petition handed to the Trust & the distribution of some 17,000 Car-Stickers; leaflet distribution & Media high profile have all paved the way.  The Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group  have worked extremely hard to reverse the Scarborough NHS Healthcare Trusts decision and months & months of hard work have stopped any unit closures."  We now lokk forward to the Minor Injuries Unit re-opening 24/7 by June 2007 thank to all concerned.

Mick Pilling added "There are still issues that are unresolved & the Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group will address these issues and will continue to campaign for the retention and improvement of all services on the Bridlington & District Hospital site."

Note: We have now placed a Petition on the Prime Ministers website for all to sign;
