Depressing NEWS FLASH!!!! 3 WARDS TO CLOSE

3 WARDS TO CLOSE @ BRIDLINGTON...FACT!  say's Mr McInnes

Just as staff at Bridlington Hospital were given the good news about the number of staff jobs that were to be lost or reduced from 600+ to now between 50/70 in an 11th hour reprieve made after talks with Strategic Health Authorities when a deal was struck and the debt wipe out, almost.  This gave the Scarborough NHS Trust room to move forward.   And well they have, read-on

News Flash!! Hours later the Chief Executive Iain McInnes of the Scarborough NHS Trust held a meeting with all staff at the Doomed Bridlington Hospital; he told staff that the plans were to Close Acute Medical Wards ; Thornton & Kent the admissions to these wards exceeds 350 cases per month; also to be removed the Cardiac Monitoring Unit ; the CMU treats most cases of Heart attack and chest plains patients; this as left a bitter taste in the mouths of Doctors, Nurses & staff; they declared this news as Outrageous and despicable; not only are these wards well under staffed there now lays a very large cloud over them.... Kent & Thornton Wards have approx 32 beds to each ward; the Cardiac Monitoring Unit has 5 beds and one special bed; leading to the loss of approx 70 beds.

News Flash!! The plans stated; Mr McInnes said the Trust are to remove these wards and transfer then to Scarborough in the not too distant future; this could be by the end of September 07 beginning October 07.....Doctors & Nurses were outraged, many have worked in these wards for many years.

All the consultations that have been held have been a complete waste of Tax Payers Money; the Trust are forging ahead with all there plans and to hell with the consequences.

What people are asking ; how can one man a professor come to Bridlington Hospital for a couple of hours and declare the CMU needs to be transferred to Scarborough?  Scarborough Hospital does not have any other equipment than Bridlington; the nearer the patient is to hospital when having a Heart attack the better and the better survival rate.  We need a written report signed by Prof Boyle & Pro Alberti stating the facts they have discussed and passed on to the Trust!

News Flash!! We have been informed that the Ambulance Service in Bridlington cannot cope with the present amount of Emergencies it deals with daily; talks are in place now with the Trust; we await there reply.  Each ambulance that attends an emergency can be tied up for approx 2 hours.  With the above in mind how long before we see or hear of death in transit all ready reported are 4 baby-births in backs of ambulances 2006.

News Flash!! FACT: Recently a person died in Bridlington and in her will she bequeathed a large amount of equipment all brand new for the Cardiac Monitoring Unit (CMU) because the equipment in the CMU is out-dated; we are informed this new equipment at present is Boxed in the Priory ward in Bridlington Hospital un-opened; it as been there for many months, what does that tell you?  It should be on the wards saving lives. The Trust have already closed the Maternity Units at Bridlngton, Malton & Whitby The Minor Injuries Unit in Bridlington has now been closed for 12 months with no in-site to it re-opening this year; it closed its doors in September 2006 over-night because of a shortage of staff; with the present non-recruiting ban in place and non-overtime; how can you re-open the MIU if you don't advertise for the staff you need.

Roads around the Bridlington Hospital have been neglected to the point now were there are lots of pot-holes, Staff, there is none: NO Gardener, NO Security Men; Not many Porters and the CCTV Cameras that operate in the Hospital many need servicing or repairing; the Trust have not maintained our hospital in the last 2 years; we believe.  Emergency Patients coming in by Ambulance are beaten-up by these appalling road conditions
