UP TO 3,000 people turned out today as Bridlington witnessed its biggest ever protest march. Crowds of people, including many hospital staff, walked up Bessingby Road to demonstrate about potential cuts to services at Bridlington Hospital. Thank you very much for asking The Country Grill to take part in your protest on Saturday. You did a fantastic job , I was very moved by your marchers , as I noticed also that a lot of people were on crutches , wheel chairs etc , but these are the people that this closure will effect . I have to say ,I was quite shocked when one of your protesters told me about the maternity unit been threatened , and people will no longer be able to say they are born in Bridlington . I really do hope all your hard work ,which I know talking to customers who came to us for a cup of tea , you have put so much in to this . I wish you good luck in the future . I for one support you 100% Good Luck Mike , you really deserve it . ***************** Best wishes Debi Lawrence The Country Grill Well done, pleased it was a huge success. Cllr Ros Jump ***************** Now then Mick, what a great day yesterday and so well organised by yourself. We were proud to be part of it and am sure what ever is next we will do our best to be part of it. Wendy and Pat got themselves on telly and I gave a quick interview with the Free Press so we might have to charge for our services from now on. On a serious note though, we have to keep the pressure on so, can we send e-mails to Greg Knight or is it best to send a letter like he suggested. Maybe both I don't know. Keep us informed and if we can help let us know. All the best, and once again, WELL DONE YOU. Adrian & Wendy Green ************* Dear Mick, A disappointing turnout considering the size of our town. I suppose those who didn't turn up will realise the error of their ways when they are carted off to Scarborough, York or Hull after they have either severed an artery or suffered a heart attack! But then I wouldn't wish either on anybody. Thank you for all you did yesterday. David Dawson To MPs - PS This is what you have to do in England on Sunday mornings. Those living abroad - don't bother coming back! ************** Hello Mike 'Congatulations' to you !!!!! What a fantastic turn out. If only the PCT, would listen. Surly they must take notice this time, Keep going and keep well. Best Wishes Barbara J. Cllr ******************** Mick ********************* Hi Mick - let no one attempt to take away the success of the March that you so successfully organised, to say i was surprised by the turnout would be a understatement amazing. Congratulations and sincere thanks from the whole of the elderly residents of the East Riding hopefully the little Hitler will now know he has got a fight on his hands. Please MICK accept praise for a job well done and don't let them steal your worthy work on behalf of people living in the East Riding. Very Well Done !! **************** Hi Mick. fantastic response, brilliant, the whole thing re Brid hospital is terrible.
My husband is going to be poorly (he has chronic fatigue/ME) for some months probably
so can't do a lot but totally support what you are doing. ***************** Well done Mick. You should feel very proud of today. Keep it up. Duggie and Sue **************** Mick Many Congratulations on a successful Rally. Keep up the good work Cllr Chris Matthews **************** Dear Mick, I noticed on the local news the other day that Bridlington council is trying to encourage new business into the area so that the resort is "open all year". I thought this was a marvelous fighting point to aid you in your attempt to save Bridlington Hospital. If more people are to be encouraged into the area then the hospital needs upgrading not downgrading. Keep up the good fight. Kind regards Sue Ingram **************** My daughter has just been informed that her appointment in January at Scarborough has been cancelled as they are upgrading one theatre in Scarborough and one theatre in Bridlington! She has now to wait for an appointment in YORK. She is having an operation on her leg but does not qualify for transport to and from the hospital which means that a relation will have to take her to York, wait and then bring her home. How much is that going to cost? |
