| Dear Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP; Please submit this letter to Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson MP Health Secretary My concerns are if the (CMU) Cardiac Monitoring Unit and Acute Medical Services are removed from Bridlington Hospital then lives could be lost . We need the CMU to remain at Bridlington Hospital for the foreseeable future, most of the time the 6 beds are in use, they have saved many lives. If the CMU is removed to Scarborough Hospital then Heart Attack & Chest pain Victims will have to travel some 20 miles plus for help and treatment, if these coastal roads become blocked by severe and adverse weather conditions i.e. Snow, Ice, dense fog or a severe road accident then the Emergency Ambulance would be forced to go to York Hospital 30 miles away or Hull Royal 35 miles away; the people of Bridlington have many fears about this removal of services, they may die in transit. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service have categorically stated ; if the CMU is removed then they would have to commission 3 new ambulances, crews and equipment at a cost of £1.5m, we feel this money should be put into sustaining the CMU in Bridlington. The CMU in Bridlington is a life saver to remove this service would be unjust therefore I beg you to step-in before it is too late, I beg you to help reverse this decision the Scarborough NHS Trust are making, this is nothing more then a cost saving exercise made by this Trust. The Trust have received a Vote of NO Confidence by the Town Council, they say you cannot trust a trust who cannot be trusted. A recent Protest-Rally-March held on the 20th October 2007 saw the town speak as one when over 2,000/2,500 towns people took to the streets to try and reverse the trust decision. I will be asking/requesting everyone in the town to write to Mr Alan Johnson MP to voice there disgust are removing such a life-line, it is the Heart of Bridlington. Bridlington Hospital is only 18yrs old, modern, clean and well respected, if you have a heart Mr Johnson then help to save ours.
