Full investigation should be made into Car-Park-Charges Revenue @ Scarborough NHS Trust

Hello from Mick Pilling

Using Staff to pay off your debts goes against the grain. We urge you to reconsider these extortionate charges of Car Park Charges placed on Nurses, Doctors and such; the audacity of the Chief Exec and the Trust Board leave a lot to be desired, you never seem to fail, you always get things wrong, is it difficult for people in high profile job to think sensibly?

Hi Mick

Car Park charging has been discussed and consulted upon within the Trust through our staff consultation mechanisms. The Board agreed the proposals at the October Board meeting we are currently implementing those proposals. The board do not believe that 50p per day for the majority of our staff is extortionate; nor is £25 per month (for consultant staff) for secured car parking extortionate.

Many NHS employees pay significantly higher rates

Good morning Iain Chief Executive Scarborough NHS Trust;

We do not as a campaign group sanction increase charges in car parking  These charges of increase may not be high but they are to be implemented.

Nor do we believe that staff should be picking up the tab for mismanagement of previous revenue (car-park-charges) which seems to have been used to pay off existing debts the Trust have incurred, I find the whole issue of charging staff despicable, estimates we believe to which the trust have raised in the last 5+ years must total £1 to 2m nothing of this money can be accounted for we believe, therefore we believe the public should have access to the accounts 2002-2007; as the Trust stated at the time what this revenue raised would be used for, CCTV up-dates & repairs, Security men, gardener, maintainence of grounds etc.  We firmly believe that this revenue obtained by car-park-charges should be investigated to see if fraud as been committed.

Do you not agree that you and your predecessor have been charging to park cars for the last 5 years.

You now state that the revenue raised will be used for security; you and your predecessor implemented this when charges were first introduced, you stated then that monies raised would be used for security, car-park maintenance, keeping the grounds safe and maintaining roads etc;

How can you charge again for the self and same?
What as happened to all the previous money raised?
You try to baffle the staff, patients and visitors

There should be more than adequate monies in the coffers to maintain without further increases.  Lets face it Iain you've had the monies! if this revenue as been spent on other things i.e. paying of debts than to charge again would be despicable!

I feel it is time to campaign that you disclose what has happened to previous monies raised, estimate state that you were in fact raising in excess of some £250,000 per year; this revenue generated for its purpose should have then been used for what it was stated by the trust, failure to use this money for what is was generated for boils down to nothing more than FRAUD!

You are now increasing Car-park charges for patients, visitors and now staff, you state it is to be used for security etc, may I remind you you stated this on previous occasions.  Only over the last 12 months we have seen all security disappear as the trust tries to recuperate to pay off debts.

Are you not aware the increase in parking is down to your own doing, more and more patients are having to travel to Scarborough Hospital because of closures at other hospitals within your command, well all now your motto, we make the mistakes, you the public pay for them.

Under the Freedom of Information Act of 2002 we would like to see accounts of how much monies the Trust have raised over the last 5+ years in Car-park revenue at Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby & Malton?

I challenge you to supply the details stated

Mick Pilling
