75 Councillors in East Yorkshire give Scarborough NHS Trust & Board a "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE"!!!

23/06/07 Bridlington Town Council has supported a Vote of NO Confidence in the Scarborough NHS Healthcare Trust following a presentation by Mick Pilling, who chairs Save Bridlington Hospital Action Campaign Group.

Mr Pilling told the meeting he feared that the Bridlington Hospital was being run down by the Scarborough & North East Yorkshire Healthcare Trust to cut costs because of its debts.

He claimed the Minor Injuries Unit at the Hospital closed it's doors over-night from 9pm to 9am next day from:  05 September 2006  and was due to open 24/7 from June 2007 but would now not do so because of staffing problems.  The aim by the Trust is to have a walk-in/walk-out type unit, no date as been given for this, rumours are mid 2008?

"The future of the 6 bed Cardiac Monitoring Unit (CMU) & Acute Medical Services one ward to go 28/30 beds is still under severe threat. The Trust would like to see this unit removed to Scarborough Hospital to save vast amounts of money," he added. "The Maternity Unit also faces the same severe threat of been removed to Scarborough in a cost saving exercise." This as now being confirmed by the Trust along with Malton & Whitby.

UP-TO-DATE NEWS-FLASH

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council at Beverley on Wednesday 14th November 2007 received a presentation from Mayor of Bridlington Cllr Raymond Allerston when he put a motion forward to carry the VOTE of NO CONFIDENCE in the Trust & Board of Scarborough NHS Healthcare Trust; this motion was carried unanimously by the 63 East Yorkshire Councillors bringing the total to approx 75 Councillors within this region Cllr Raymond Allerston said; when you go to a Trust meeting you get the same old story and nothing new, I am fed up with been fobbed off along with fellow councillors. He beleives the Trust are just forging ahead with there plans and taking no notice of what the town people of Bridlington and surrounding areas want.

Mick Pilling adds

A lot of people don't believe the right decisions are being made about the running of this hospital in Bridlington.

We fear the demise of Bridlington Hospital is rapidly approaching.

I am told the hospital is like a ghost town from time to time now because everyone has to go to Scarborough for their appointments.

Meanwhile , East Riding Council voted unanimously in favour of a Vote of no Confidence in the trust.    A motion by Bridlington Mayor Ray Allerston calling on Health Secretary Alan Johnson to intervene, follows last month's mass demonstration March in the town against cuts when in excess of 2,500 to 3,000 people took part organised by the Save Bridlington Hospital Action Campaign Group it was vote a huge success.

It was attended by UNITE the UNION and the Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP who is bitterly disappointed in the Trust actions to remove such vital services from Bridlington Hospital, Mr Knight MP plans to meet with the Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson MP Health Secretary on a new date of 11th December 2007 .  he will also be handing over a large amount of letters from the towns people and residents.

Kindest regards Mick Pilling
