Mick Pilling & Unite Campaign to Save Bridlington Hospital Cardiac Monitoring Unit continues

Mick Pilling chairman Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group along with Unite the Union welcomes Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Trusts decision to install brand new state-of-the-art equipment at the Cardiac Monitoring Unit (CMU) in Bridlington Hospital.

However, this newly refurbished unit may not be at the hospital for much longer as it has been earmarked for closure and the campaigning goes on to save the CMU's vital services.

Mick Pilling said: “This state of the art equipment has the capability of serving the CMU at Bridlington Hospital for at least the next decade or more. Unfortunately the future of the unit is uncertain as it has been earmarked for closure.

"Together Mick Pilling & Unite have consistently said that the closure plans will put patient's lives at risk as they will have to travel further, 22 miles to Scarborough hospital, for emergency treatment. This new unit equipment is another reason why we will continue to campaign to keep the unit open.

” This new equipment in the unit will assist the CMU staff to constantly observe the patients heart rate, rhythm and vital signs which are critical in caring for heart attack, angina, arrhythmia and chest pain patients who are admitted to the hospital.

We will fight on until common sense prevails If this unit is removed it will rip the heart and soul out of Bridlington hospital, also ear marked for removal to Scarborough is the 30 bed ward of Acute Medical Services
