THE Yorkshire Ambulance Service is to boost its ability to respond to emergency calls by introducing six new rapid response vehicles (RRVs) in East Yorkshire.

The silver Vauxhall Zafiras are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and will be based in Bridlington, Brough and Hull.

Paul Mudd, assistant director of operations for Hull and East Yorkshire, said: "Increasing the number of YAS vehicles helps us to serve our patients better with a more modern and reliable fleet."

The cars have been bought as part of a fleet expansion and replacement programme.
