Meeting at Bridlington Hospital planned on Thursday 10th December 09

A meeting at Bridlington Hospital planned on Thursday 10th December 09 took place with Chief Executive Richard Sunley and arranged by Mick Pilling accompanied by Councillor Liam Dealtry many subjects were covered and 23 questions answered.

Improvements to Bridlington Hospital were the focus of a recent meeting with hospital trust chief executive Richard Sunley.
Richard met with hospital campaigner Mick Pilling and Councillor Liam Dealtry to help drive forward further improvements to the hospital.

He said: "We are committed to ensuring that Bridlington Hospital will continue to be a thriving community hospital. The services offered by the hospital have changed over recent years, but patients are seeing more and more new services available at their local hospital.

"We now have a positive and constructive relationship with local councillors and Mike Pilling which I hope will help us make further improvements at Bridlington Hospital. At our recent meeting we were able to discuss the future of the hospital and the concerns of the local community.

"I described some of the new healthcare services which we have introduced there and clarified some issues such as smoking, transport and security.
"I’m committed to taking forward many of the suggestions made during the meeting and have already progressed some of their concerns...."

It was agreed at the meeting that Richard would provide monthly information on Bridlington Hospital for potential inclusion in the Town Council’s communications.

Following our meeting on 10th December, I am now in a position to provide some answers to some of the questions which you raised:

**************************************************************************************************************

Cigarette Butts

The area is swept on a regular basis. However, the provision of appropriate bins may eventually have to be considered.

Road Lining

Further road lining is planned as part of the 2010/11 capital programme. If approved, the road marking at Bridlington Hospital should be completed by May 2010.

Transport

Transport issues will be considered in more detail in the next financial year as part of our Sustainable Transport Plan and Carbon Reduction Stragegy. The plan is to appoint a sustainability manager to lead on these issues and to focus on waste minimisation.

Security

Staff are trained on how to deal with violence and aggression as part of the Trust’s obligation and Health and Safety. They are trained to react to incidents of violence and aggression by assessing the situation and taking the appropriate recourse.

In relation to personal property and assets, the Trust’s approach is to educate staff to be aware of the need to keep both their personal belongings and the workplace secure. When a security incident occurs, it is logged on the Incident Reporting System and the appropriate level of action is taken.

A proposal has been developed to improve CCTV coverage at Bridlington Hospital .

I will be writing to you in due course with answers to the remaining points which you raised on 11th December.

Regards
